Money is talked about in the Bible more than most other topics and continues to be a popular subject today. Most of us would say that life would be better if we had more money. Money drives so many of us whether that is in our career, pursuits of sinful desires, or just obsession over it craving more and more each day.
As Christians, we have hopefully heard of tithing, and when it comes to money overall, which is really God’s, what does the Bible say?
Here is Scripture on Money:
Philippians 4:19 - And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Malachi 3:10 - Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
1 Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
Acts 20:35 - In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
Proverbs 22:7 - The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
Hebrews 13:5 - Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Matthew 6:24 - No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Ecclesiastes 5:10 - He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.
Proverbs 23:4-5 - Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist. When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven.
