Scripture on Thoughts

Scripture on Thoughts

What we think about the most reveals what is most important in our lives. We could spend our days thinking of money, power, authority, parenting, performance, possessions, etc. What do you find yourself thinking of the most?

The Bible has a lot to say about our thoughts and thankfully no one can actually read our minds except for God, who knows all of our intentions. Luckily, what we fill our minds with is typically what we end up thinking of the most, over time. If we read the Bible and spend time with The Lord, we will often think of Him more and more. Likewise, if we spend our time doing other things, we will think of those more often as well.

What we think about the most reveals what we care about the most.

For followers of Jesus, it’s very important to understand our thoughts and know we will reflect on Jesus the more we spend time with Him. This is crucial in my opinion on a daily basis since I believe we are in a battle on a daily basis. Not only do we naturally want to sin and stray away from The Lord, but we have a real enemy as well…who loves to get in our heads.

Let me encourage you to read the Bible and fill your minds with things above. If you do this on a daily basis, I promise your thoughts will begin to change.

Here is what the Bible has to say with scripture on thoughts:

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Romans 12:2 – Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

2 Corinthians 10:5 – We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

Romans 8:6 – For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

Psalm 139:17 – How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

Proverbs 12:5 – The thoughts of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.

Psalm 94:11 – The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath.

Isaiah 26:3 – You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

Jeremiah 17:10 – I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.

Psalm 19:14 – Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Matthew 5:8 – Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
