“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel; “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” – Isaiah 43:1-3
The reality of these verses can be overwhelming: WHEN you pass through the waters, WHEN you pass through the rivers, WHEN you walk through fire. It’s not an IF, but rather WHEN. We will have hard days. We will have hard months. We will walk through dark seasons where it seems the waters of life are going to completely flood over us or it seems the fires of our circumstances are going to bring us to our melting point.
And if that’s all we read, it would indeed be overwhelming.
BUT, that is not all that God says to us. He promises to His people: I have called you by name, you are mine and I will pass through the waters with you and I will hold you up so they do not flood over you; I will walk through the flames with you and I will cover you so that the flames do not consume you. Our God will never let go of us. We are His own.
My prayer for us this week is this: that no matter what is before us, we will fear not and walk courageously forward knowing that our God is with us and will not abandon His people.
I love you guys. Press on!
