How To Not Have Wavering Faith

How to Not Have Wavering Faith

The storms of our culture and trials come our way each and every day. For followers of Jesus, it’s critical to have a solid foundation so when these moments come up, we’ll be braced and ready for whatever comes our way and glorify The Lord in the process.

Jesus gives us clear directions from Matthew 7:24-27 on exactly how to have this solid foundation for when these moments occur.

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock….(Matthew 7:24)

Sometimes we easily forget the source of our wisdom and how to build our house on the rock. The Bible is where we can hear “these words” that Jesus is referencing here. Not only that, it includes whoever does these words as well. We have got to remember that the Bible is what we need to read daily and be obedient to actually do what it says.

…And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. (Matthew 7:25)

If we read the Bible and do what God says, we can be sure we’ll receive wisdom from The Lord and therefore, be prepared for when culture and trials come our way. We’ll be strong and not waver in our faith because we’ll know the real truth behind everything that is going on and be able to see how God is at work.

Stand firm in your faith and do not waver, for God is with you wherever you go.

Everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand…(Matthew 7:26)

We should take God’s warning seriously here in the fact that if we hear what the Bible is saying and what is being taught, and we still choose to not follow The Lord, we can be sure of what God’s Word says here – we will be fools. I don’t know about you but when I read that God tells us we have an option to be wise or an option to be foolish, I definitely want to make decisions to be the wise one.

…And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:27)

Jesus finishes this part of the passage by explaining that as the rain and floods come (we can count on this happening in our lives), the house will fall. The danger here is that if we don’t have a solid foundation, we will waver in our faith when hard times or false teachings come.

Be encouraged today that you have an opportunity to make wise or foolish decisions. Regardless of what happened yesterday or maybe even earlier today, take this moment to open up the Bible, read, pray, and be obedient to what The Lord is calling you to do. Then, stand firm in your faith and do not waver, for The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Most Gracious and Eternal Heavenly Father, I pray that you will repair the friendship that I have with my guy friend Jovani and that you will help us to reach out to one another and reconnect and talk to each other soon. I pray that you will change his heart and allow him to reach out to me and be kind to me again. Please do this in your own time and in your own way. I need your help, Father. I won’t give up on you or my friend. We have not spoken in four almost five months, since… Read more »
