Have you ever noticed on Sunday mornings how the highways are empty? For most of us, we can drive to our local Church to gather together as believers to Worship the living God with ease. It’s an awesome commute, but what does it say about the Kingdom?
“For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” – Matthew 7:14
Jesus teaches us in the Bible how He is the one and only way to God (John 14:6). This does explain why our highways aren’t full of people in the world that we live in. Jesus is a narrow path and not everyone will find Him…in fact many people will reject Him. So what do we do with this?
Let me encourage you next time you’re driving on Sunday (or any day for the matter) and the highways are empty, pray. Pray for God to rescue more and more people. Pray for God to lift the veils off of people. Pray for the Holy Spirit to transform hearts of people.
It’s a sober reminder each week to see how many are not following Jesus and we should let this remind us of the mission Jesus has given us. Not to discourage us, but to make us grateful for the relationship we have with Him and to encourage us to press on (Philippians 3:14), fight the good fight (1 Timothy 6:12), and share the love of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20).
Imagine if we were driving together on Sunday morning and the highways were crowded of believers gathering together to Worship? That might not be the greatest for the commute, but that would be the greatest for the Kingdom!
