Scripture on Help

Scripture on Help

Help is one of those words with many different meanings. It’s emotional. It’s difficult. It’s where freedom is found. It’s terrible. It’s innocent. It’s many different things.

Sometimes we find ourselves in the midst of terrible tragedies and we need help. Sometimes we see children asking their parents for help. Sometimes we finally give up on our own strength and ask others for help. And sometimes we simply cry out with everything we have for someone to help us.

Whatever definition of help that resonates with you the most, rest assured God can be a help to you.

We are quick to turn away from God and look for something more tangible to help us, but we forget just how close Jesus is to us. We forget we have the Holy Spirit Himself inside us (for those who follow Jesus).

The Bible states clearly that God is a very present help to us in times of trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

No matter what you are going through, no matter what decisions you are having to make, even if you believe you are completely alone, remember that Jesus is with you. He can relate with you in every way because of what He went through for us. He understands and can be a refuge for you and give you strength.

Do you believe this?

Pray to God, asking Him for help, and read what the Bible has to say with scripture on help:

Hebrews 2:18 – For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Psalm 72:12 – For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper.

Psalm 10:14 – But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless.

Isaiah 59:1 – Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear.

Psalm 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 28:7 – The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.

Psalm 68:19 – Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.

Isaiah 50:9 – Behold, the Lord God helps me; who will declare me guilty? Behold, all of them will wear out like a garment; the moth will eat them up.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Psalm 33:20 – Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
